Finance is the backbone of every organization. To fully realize the potential of Dynamics 365 Finance (D365 Finance), it helps to understand how financial transactions are processed, posted, and analyzed within the system. This beginner‑friendly, comprehensive 8‑hour academy provides the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to confidently navigate D365 Finance and optimize financial operations.
We begin with a step-by-step walkthrough of the financial modules in D365 Finance to ensure participants are comfortable with key capabilities and navigation patterns with no assumptions about prior experience. As the day progresses, we build on that foundation with an overview of core accounting processes, including the relationships among the general ledger, subledgers, and voucher transactions. Participants will follow the complete lifecycle of financial transactions, from entry to reporting, gaining insight into the system’s architecture, posting logic, and data flow.
Emphasizing practical application, the session shows you how to trace the source of transactions, evaluate their downstream impacts on financial data, and ensure accuracy through validation and controls. We conclude with an overview of reporting options to support analysis, compliance, and decision making. By the end of the academy, newcomers to D365 Finance will feel confident navigating the application and explaining how transactions flow—even with zero prior system background.

We’ll laugh. We may even cry. But you’ll walk away with the hard-won insights we wish we’d had before setting up Business Performance Planning (BPP) and getting budgets to write back cleanly to Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
This is not a “hello world” demo. It’s the field notes: the gotchas that don’t make it into documentation, the sequence that actually works, and the mapping decisions that prevent late‑night rework. We’ll unpack how to align key information between D365, BPP, and Dataverse, what to do when cubes fail (and when to rebuild vs. reuse),and the exact write‑back path to budget register entries.
We’ll also hit the quiet killers: licensing, environment, and security prerequisites. No fluff—just practical tips, checklists, and troubleshooting patterns you can apply the moment you’re back at your keyboard.
Bring your questions (and your best “why is this failing now?” story). We’ve got you.
