Recurring batch jobs in D365 F&O are powerful tools but come with some limitations. When you need a batch job to run every hour, but not at all hours of the day, how do you handle this exception? Do you set up multiple batch jobs to run once a day at the desired hours? You can, but there is a much better, and more efficient way - active periods for batch jobs! Let's take a look at this great functionality.
Active periods in D365 F&O are predefined time slots during which batch jobs are allowed to run. By setting these periods, you can control when certain processes are executed, helping to avoid system overloads during peak business hours and ensuring that critical tasks are completed during off-peak times.

Active periods are setup independent of batch jobs and can be assigned to more than one batch job.
To setup active periods, navigate to:
System administration > Setup > Active periods for batch jobs
